Another One Stumped!

I can officially add another specialist to my list of "Doctors I Have Stumped"! To be honest, this one didn't just throw her hands up though. I'll start at the beginning...

My shoulder surgeon was originally trying to help me with my collarbone issue. He exhausted all of his resources and referred me to Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation (PM&R). I really liked the doc that I was scheduled with. She took a full hour to sit down with me and discuss all of my issues and ailments over my entire lifespan. I finally have a physician who is looking at the whole picture and, much like me, feels that my issues are probably related.

It was a long hour of talking and at the end she admitted that I was throwing her a curve ball and she didn't have any answers for. She did confirm that my issues are not stemming from my neck or my back (which is what the initial referral was for), but that she really wanted to get me an answer. She promised to do some more research and asked to discuss my case with a group (actually a Facebook group) of 66,000 female physicians and specialists to see if anyone else has had a case similar to mine. She said she couldn't promise she would have an answer, but she was hoping to have a path of options to explore.

In the end, she says she has some ideas, but wants to do more research before running me through a myriad of tests. Worst case scenario... she said if she can't figure it out, she will gladly refer me to Mayo Clinic. Here's hoping she figures it out!!!

On to funner topics! (Sorry, that word is a big grammatical battle in our house, so I couldn't resist.)

Emmy Lou and Abbycakes started their first season of lacrosse this week.

They are having a blast! Spring sports up north mean we've been dealing with 30-40 degree spectator temps, but the kids don't seem to mind one bit. I love that they are out there trying something new!! It should be a fun season.

Finally... to end on a happy note, I took my measurements the morning of my four month appointment with my specialist doc and was beyond excited to see a 14.75 inch loss!!! I needed to see those numbers. It's so easy to think that your body isn't changing because you can't see it every day in the mirror, but it was a much needed NSV. While the scale is showing happy news lately too, it's fun to see proof that my body is shrinking. Plus, I know when the scale isn't my friend, the tape measure may still be!
