Been Gone Too Long - 5 Month Update

It's hard to believe that I'm five months into my journey with my weight loss specialist. I'm happy to report that he was very happy with my progress at our monthly appt last Thursday. I've lost just over 20 pounds and I really feel like I'm finding my groove.

Don't get me wrong, I still have my days, or weeks, where I struggle and the negative mentality tries to take over, but the proof is there! It's in the clothes that are getting baggier on me by the day. It's in the swim suit that I feel a bit more confident in. It's in the automatic choice to grab the container of blackberries out of the refrigerator, instead of the carton of ice cream out of the freezer. It's in the fact that I had the busiest two weeks I've ever had in my job and I still managed to walk into the doctor's office and show a solid loss for the month!

It's summer and life has gone from crazy to insane! Summer for most students means summer vacation, but for the students I work with it means the first day of classes, so they've kept me plenty busy. Lacrosse season is going strong, we actually wrap it up this weekend. Softball season has also started. Plus, we have a karate belt test coming up this weekend too! Our days and evenings are a bit, actually a lot chaotic right now. I'm loving it though!

I'm also still finding ways to get my workout in. Memorial Day weekend was perfect for getting a couple in. I also had a boatload of homework to get done before class tonight. See?! I said life is crazy!

So, I'm not going to try to catch all of you up on everything since I've been MIA, but we've been having fun. The girls' lacrosse season has been a blast. It's been amazing to watch these girls go from knowing almost nothing about the sport to passing and scoring like they've been playing for years!

Outside of all of our lacrosse fun, we've been busy having all kind of other fun! We kicked off May with a mini getaway road trip with the girls to a favorite hotel/waterpark of ours. We even introduced the girls to the fun of visiting breweries.

They loved that they got to play games while we played cribbage... or in The Hubby's case, join in with them and play some lawn games! It was a very relaxing and much needed getaway!

We got back from our get away just in time to participate in a karate tournament. Emmy Lou worked so hard on some things that were pointed out to her after her last couple tournaments and it paid off! She and a friend competed in team weapons and took 2nd place against two, much older teams and she placed first in her age group for forms! The Hubby and I competed as well and brought home a couple 2nd and 3rd place trophies ourselves. That tournament is always a fun event.

Mid-May didn't slow down any for us. We went full steam ahead into more fun and activities. We spent Mother's Day weekend at the cabin after celebrating our niece's 1st birthday. Papa even took all of us ladies fishing. It wasn't very fruitful, but it felt great to get a line in the water.

The girls had some school events too. Abby's first grade class did a Dr. Seuss program and Abby was the fish from The Cat in the Hat (just like her big sister was three years ago). Then they had their spring concert a few days later. Abby smucked her thumb in the door of the Explorer, so she didn't get to twirl at the concert, but Emmy Lou did.

Emmy Lou was also presented at the concert with two money awards for taking first in a regional art contest and then placing second at the state level. Before this, she also had her art chosen by the Bishop for his Christmas card next year. I'm so proud of my little artist and she is loving all of it!

Those are the highlights from mid-May which brings us to the fun of Memorial Day weekend! My ex gets the girls every year because his family gets together for their traditional picnic and parade fun. The weather didn't cooperate with them this year, but they still spent quality time with their dad. Meanwhile, The Hubby and I enjoyed some kidless time. Saturday I went for a run in the gorgeous, very summerish weather and then spent the rest of the day reading my homework while working on a tan. It was just too nice to sit inside!

On Sunday, The Hubby and I went four wheeling with my parents. It was a great day for it too. We got very dusty, then we got rained on the last 10 minutes and got very muddy! We had a blast though.

Finally, my kiddos came home yesterday, but not before I got a workout in earlier in the day. They had the neighbor kids over to play within minutes of getting home, but I loved hearing all of the giggles and squeals. I'm beyond happy that they get to grow up with neighborhood friends like I did. When dinner was done, the other kiddos headed home and the girls and I had a chill night until they went to bed, then Mama got to spend a few hours pouring over her homework. UGH! If these summer courses don't kill me, it'll be a miracle!

So, we've kicked the summer off with a bang! This week starts Emmy Lou's softball games, so she'll have doubleheaders every Wednesday evening. The Hubby, Kenziebug, Abbycakes, Jack Jack and I are all doing summer karate. Emmy Lou will do one week of karate summer camp the week after next, plus summer school starts that week as well. Needless to say, we are happy that summer is on the horizon! School is officially out in three days. AND.... my baby turns SEVEN in two days!!! Another year just blipped on by. WOW!

There you have it. I'm all caught up. Hopefully I won't have to wait so long between posts next time, but I can't make any promises. Happy End of May Everyone!! Let's hope the bitter cold weather is gone for good from my neck of the woods.
