Bumpy Wagon

I've hit another bump and fallen directly off the wagon. Actually, I think it may have ran me over a few times after I fell off, or at least I feel like I've been hit by something!! So, I've been completely off track and suffering the consequences. The weight that I had somehow managed to shed last month into early this month has found it's way back onto my body... I'm pretty sure directly on my hiney! I am happy to say, though, that some wonderful, beautiful friends of mine are helping me pick myself up and dust off. THANKS LADIES!!! Who can't stand for a little extra motivation here and there?

So, in my absense I learned a few things...

1) I love food! And when I say food I mean junk food. UGH!! It's amazing how that stuff weazels it's way into our house. I can have all of my cupboards, freezers and my fridge completely detoxed of crap food and the POOF, that's all there is to offer. A sure sign I've gotten off course since I'm the shopper in the family.

2) I won't even make eye contact with Trixie right now. Poor girl! Yeah right, she's getting plenty of attention from my hubby lately, so she's still happy. I think she laughs at me when I walk by her on my way to the laundry room (in search of something... anything that fits). And I am absolutely positive that she and my scale - I call him Satan - are in cohorts. Evil machines!!

3) I need to get things right inside my head to make this work. I play horrible mind games with myself. One bad day and I'm throwing in the towel. One bad weigh in and I'm headed to an all you can eat buffet with every intention of spending all my time at the dessert bar. UGH!! (No I've never done that, but don't think it hasn't crossed my mind) So, there's a lot to be said for mind over matter. Losing weight is about 80% what you eat and 20% exercise. You CAN lose without exercising, but you won't tone as quickly or as well. Same goes for the mental part. Losing weight is probably 80% mental and 20% physical. If you aren't mentally invested in your goals, then you can kiss them goodbye. No matter how hard you try to go through the motions, your brain controls them in the end. Emotions are what get in my way. I'm a horrible emotional eater with the inability to say no.

So, that's going to be my first goal for the next few weeks. I need to learn to say no to myself. Don't buy things you don't need or that will sabatoge your efforts. Don't eat just because you're upset, bored, happy, or whatever. And I have to realize that no one is going to give me the magic pill or wave a wand over my head and make it all easy. If I don't put in the effort and push through the bumps in the road instead of bailing I'm going to be fat the rest of my life. Sad thought, but also very true!

With all that fun and upbeat stuff taken care of, I'd like to share a couple of things today. First, my friend's blog. She is part of what has inspired me to get back on track. Cori is a mommy to three little ones and each has their own form of special needs that keep mom on the go with very little extra time for herself. Yet she makes time and she's been making time for a year and has an awesome success story to show for it. Here's the link if anyone is interested. http://cori-gonnadoit.blogspot.com/2011/05/3-weeks-doneday-223.html

And finally, for those with an iPhone I thought I'd share my latest finds. First, an app I'm so excited to share... Fooducate. This uses the scanner method you see on a lot of apps lately. Just scan a food's UPC label and POOF a rating for the food pops up. The best part is that it figures the points for you as well! Awesome app, but be careful, I've found it off on a couple of foods, so just look carefully at the nutritional value it's using.

The other two apps (one I've mentioned before) are C25K and MyFitnessPal. I believe you can get both of these apps for other phones beyond the iPhone, but they are awesome. With the weather warming up this is a perfect way to track your activity or follow a walk-to-run program to get outside and get moving. I can't say enough about both of these apps or their websites. Enjoy!!
